WGA Provides Civil Engineering for Texas A&M’s $250M Aplin Center

Texas A&M University is moving forward with its highly anticipated Aplin Center, a $250 million immersive learning laboratory that will serve as a hub for hospitality, retail, and food and nutrition sciences — and as “Aggieland’s new front door.” Having broken ground in October 2025, the three-story, 211,724-square-foot facility, set to open in 2028, will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities across viticulture and enology, fermentation sciences, dairy, food science, and retail innovation.

The Aplin Center, named after Buc-ee’s CEO and Texas A&M alumnus Arch “Beaver” Aplin III, will also feature collaborative lounges, lecture halls, flexible event zones, quiet study spaces, a restaurant, café, and even a virtual reality 360-degree sensory classroom.

WGA’s Role

WGA is proud to serve as the civil engineering partner on this transformative project. Our team is providing site civil design to support the complex program requirements, including infrastructure, utilities, drainage, and site development that will enable the Aplin Center to function as both a state-of-the-art educational facility and a welcoming gateway for visitors.

WGA is contracted with DLR Group, one of the project’s lead architects, to deliver civil engineering services. Our team is ensuring that the site design integrates seamlessly with Texas A&M’s vision for a forward-thinking, world-class facility.

Founded by two proud Texas A&M Aggies, WGA has deep ties to the university community. Being part of a project that will shape the student experience for future generations of Aggies is especially meaningful for WGA.
